Education day is celebrated on the 24th of January. The decision is made by UNESCO in order to embrace the spirit of education and take an opportunity to celebrate the people who had done a commendable service in imparting education to the lots.

The leader of UNESCO has the following to say about international education day:

“None of the major challenges facing the world today can be met by any one country on its own without relying on the fundamental pillars of science, education, and culture. Thus, UNESCO can and must fully participate in a world order based on multilateralism and humanist values.”

The facts from the UN have the following facts to spill about the same.

“Education is a human right, a public good, and a public responsibility.

Today, 258 million children and youth still do not attend school; 617 million children and adolescents cannot read and do basic math; less than 40% of girls in sub-Saharan Africa complete lower secondary school, and some four million children and youth refugees are out of school. Their right to education is being violated and it is unacceptable.”

This is what the UN general assembly has to say about having a day to celebrate the education day.

“The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 24 January as International Day of Education, in celebration of the role of education for peace and development.

Without inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong opportunities for all, countries will not succeed in achieving gender equality and breaking the cycle of poverty that is leaving millions of children, youth and adults behind “.

The UN is trying to act responsibly and making all of its efforts to make the rewards of education to be available to everyone.

It’s time we think the educational infrastructure of India and the common psychology that people have towards education all across the country.

India has always been the center of education from ancient times. We have a history of establishing state-funded universities and giving students across the world free education. The history of establishing the universities dates back to more than 3000 years ago.

CURRENT SCENARIO

Currently, the education system in India is the second-largest in the world after China. Still, we are a developing country, and not yet a developed country.

This makes us realize that the system of education we have has to improve in certain areas pertaining to the historical knowledge that a child is being taught and the attitude which is expected from them while presuming Knowledge.

STEPS TAKEN FOR IT

We had the National Education Policy – 2020 (NEP-2020) implemented by the central government of India. This was implemented amidst the coronavirus breakdown which is a great milestone to achieve.

The NEP-2020 addressed the need of the hour requirements which will shape the future of the children of India.

Some of its key points are:

  1. Restructuring the school structure.

The old system has been separated as 10 + 2. Now it is separated as 5+3+3+4.

  1. No Rigid Separation between streams

The separation that the previous generation suffered such as the Computer, Biology, commerce, history, groups etc. are to be avoided and if a student wishes to pursue computer alongside history, the student is allowed to do so.

  1. Vocational training is to be made a mandatory part of the curriculum

This is made as a part of the curriculum to explore the part of children which yearns to become an artist or technician. This is made mandatory so that the children will get basic exposure in the fields of becoming an artist or technician.

  1. Board exams are now what they are supposed to be:

The board exam is designed in such a way that they are designed to test the knowledge possessed by the individual student, unconventional to the evaluation of the same lessons learned over and over.

  1. Introduction of holistic progress card

  • The students will be evaluated even based on their extra-curricular activities which make their way in the report cards. This compels the student into healthy involvement in extra-curricular activities.

  • Now the student, teacher, peers will be given an opportunity to evaluate and award credits in the report cards

And many more changes have been brought by the National Education Policy which is referred from this site.

To know more about the NEP 2020, and the further developments made in the domain of education, follow this link.

One of the most important things introduced in the NEP 2020 is the optimization of cultural values by multilingualism.

The importance of multilingualism is unnecessary to be explained to an Indian where one is subjected to conditions that require him to be well versed in more than one language.

Still, we have some people, who actively ignore the actual reality and even miss the chance of exploring what’s on the other side. So, to leave any stone unturned, the compulsory introduction of the above will help us transfer the knowledge and thoughts among the people like never before.

This brings us all under the same roof where we will be sharing the same troubles and share enjoyment as one big family.

So why did this become an important one on NEP 2020?

The intent of bringing up this decision which unites all the Indians has more weightage than the actual rule that has been enacted.

This NEP 2020 will benefit the future generations who will be deciding the path of the country in about a period of 10 to 20 years. What about the country until then?

How can the youth and the people who lead the country be made one valuable resource?

This question could be answered by, imparting the knowledge on self-help and philosophy, and getting them spirited by making them learn and apply the values that are learned through the materials available for them.

We at Monkmart take immense pleasure and pride in being an active pioneer to do so.

So, this article covers education about India and the developments in it.

Why only India, when it is an international education day, unlike national education day??

The answer is so simple. We Indians, have always shown the path of education to the world even when it is not available in our country.

Many of the significant innovations and guidance have been provided by the Indians across the world alongside of the world aiming for betterment altogether.

Proving the above-mentioned fact true in the passage of history, one fact becomes clear, when India gets prepared in the education, it will be the education imparted to the whole world.

A multibillion-dollar franchise such as Byjus, Whitehat Junior, realized this and are acting upon the above-mentioned philosophy of creating India as a world center of education and tapping the advantages that the internet has to offer

CONCLUSION

The education day marks the importance of education to all of humanity and teaches us an important lesson that, no single country can act without the dependence of others. Unity has to be the top priority, which helps us tackle the challenges that are destined to be met by humanity.
