Reading consistently strengthens connections in the brain, improves memory and concentration, and may even help you live longer. Reading can also reduce stress levels and prevent age-related cognitive decline to read more, set aside time every bay to pick up a book, whether it’s during a commute or before bed.  

Reading takes the yoga further and deeper:  

Yoga is more than asana, it’s about the whole of the life-world, action, and thoughts,  reading is an essential part of taking yoga beyond simply a physical practice. Reading leads to good thoughts, and understanding that we could never make by ourselves, and allow us to savor, ponder and return again and again.

   Reading opens the yoga up to a new way of thinking:  

Yoga is a transformational practice, transforming the yogi on the inside as well as the outside. Each one of us has been brought up to think and react and respond in a certain way, which we may find at times is far from helpful and healthy. Every yogi has a habit of reading because it facilitates the renewing of the mind.  

By reading the texts the yoga student opens both the heart and mind to the teachings of the ancient masters. It is an essential part of understanding yoga philosophy and integrating the core teachings with your life.  

  

Reading is a positive experience for the mind:  

Reading allows the mind to be fully engaged and is probably the only time some of us ever stop! Whilst reading, I feel we enhance our ability to imagine think creatively, and develop a deeper understanding of what we’re reading about. Training the mind to focus in this world, where information and knowledge are transient, instant, and spooned to us in bitesize chunks, is a discipline worth cultivating. When we step onto the yoga mat, we focus on our breathing, we focus on our gaze, we focus on the mind-body connection. Reading about the philosophy and practice of the yoga tradition engenders mental focus every time we pick up a yoga text.  Reading books makes our time productive and so it doesn’t allow any negative thoughts, thereby reading can be considered as a way to clean our mind and have positive vibes.

Reading strengthens the brain:  

A growing body of research indicates that reading changes your mind.  

Using MRI scans, researchers have confirmed that reading involves a complex network of circuits and signals in the brain. As your reading ability matures, those networks also get stronger and more sophisticated.  

In one study conducted in 2013, researchers used functional MRI scans to measure the effect of reading a novel on the brain. Study participants read the novel “Pompeii” over 9  days. As tension built in the story, more and more areas of the brain lit up with activity.  

In a report, it showed that throughout the reading period and for days afterward, brain connectivity increased, especially in the somatosensory region.

Reading is a great yoga which can be followed daily and it is a very interesting hobby.  Reading enhances our memory and concentration. reading helps to expand the mind and give us more ideas. Reading has been proven to keep our minds young, healthy, and sharp,  with studies.
